Sahasrara, the seventh chakra, is located slightly above the top of the head, sitting over it like a crown that radiates upwards. The seventh chakra is nourished by silence, pure light and contact with the Absolute. Here individual personality dissolves, the opposites don’t exist anymore. The veil of ignorance is torn apart and knowledge is gained. Here we are freed from the cycle of births and rebirths. Sahasrara has an energetic connection with Muladhara, the first chakra, as they both are at the extremities of the chakra system.
Its colour is violet and its element is thought.
When the crown chakra is weak it may cause: epilepsy, headaches, lack of joy, feelings of separateness, frustration, depression.
When the crown chakra is hyperactive it may cause: high blood pressure, psychosis, destructive behaviour, paralysis.
